On our honeymoon in the mountains of Asheville NC, we rented a cabin from a local who raised chickens.
Six dark brown eggs were waiting in the kitchen when we arrived (along with freshly baked bread).
Making breakfast we were in for a shock.
The yokes were bright orange.
We were so used to the pale yellow of grocery store eggs that we actually thought something was wrong.
Ends up, the hue of the yolk points towards the health of the hen.
Deep color means rich nutrition.
