The power of permission

There’s a lesson lurking when patterns start popping up in our conversations.

That happened over the past several months when speaking with a number of successful and seasoned professionals.

A theme of stress surfaced. One after another they shared how their virtual work-routine was stuck in a rut. They were logging longer hours, taking fewer breaks, and finding themselves emotionally, intellectually, and physically exhausted.

How did they emerge from their frustration?

Permission.

It seems that adults…even high performing ones, occasionally need permission to do what they already know is good. One client referred to it as, “flipping a switch” that resulted in the improvement of several key behaviors.

So, consider this your personal permission slip to: Get some rest. Take a break. Laugh. Eat a healthy meal. Move. Nurture important relationships.

Allow yourself an appropriate amount of time and energy to pour into your wellbeing.

If you don’t, no one else will either.
