The journey of an entrepreneur - #6: Marketing & Sales

Without mastering marketing and sales, your good ideas go nowhere and benefit no one.

Cue the rebuttal: “But I don’t know the first thing about marketing and I’m horrible at sales.”

Perhaps…

Or maybe you’re overlooking all the times you’ve gotten friends to read that fabulous book you finished, dine at that delicious restaurant you enjoyed, or see that stellar movie you watched.

Marketing is the ability to earn people’s attention and gain their interest. You accomplish that by speaking their value language. No one cares about your ideas/products/services… they care about what your ideas/products/services might do for them. Make it clear how your listener will benefit from what you recommend.

Sales is the art of moving people toward a mutually beneficial exchange of value. When I walk into a grocery store, I want their gallon of milk more than I want my $5. The grocer wants my $5 more than they want their gallon of milk. After our interaction, we’re both happy!

You have important and impactful ideas that will benefit your workplace.

Your entrepreneurial spirit will soar when you remember it’s your job to generate interest and move others toward profitable action.

You’ve got this!
