What’s your real job?
Beyond our titles, we have another job...and it's easy to forget what it is.
Our real job is to make others look good.
Huh?
For as long as we can remember, we've been told that the key to "success" is to make ourselves look good.
And while it's true to some extent...the best and most selfless way to do that is by genuinely helping others look good first.
Whether it be:
Your top or underdog, delightful or demanding client.
The person who took a risk recommending you.
Your leader (whose leader is judging their performance based on how well they are growing those under them).
The person who reports to you (who your leader is watching to evaluate how well you are growing those under you).
Your internal teammates and cross-functional business partners...especially when they have become siloed.
No matter who you make look good...it's a good look.
Stay steadfast to your real job.
It's the best way to ensure you'll always be in demand.
