The blessing of inconvenience
Conventional marketing wants us to believe that the American dream is the pursuit of convenience.
I found myself believing the programming that quick and easy is better.
On a very small scale I decided to poke at this idea.
About a year ago, I replaced my hyper-convenient Keurig with a French Press, fresh roasted coffee beans, and a hand cranked coffee grinder.
Yes, I said hand cranked.
The process is time consuming, highly inconvenient…and worth every minute.
The smells…the kinetic collaboration…the anticipation.
It’s a small way of connecting more deeply with the simple moments of my morning before the day begins.
Too often we find ourselves in the drive-through instead of at the dinner table…
Texting instead of calling…
Scrolling through someone else’s experiences instead of creating your own.
Where have you sacrificed quality for the sake of convenience?
You may be missing a blessing.
