Fundamentals in times of crisis
In times of crisis, we tend to fall back on fundamentals.
A health crisis reconnects us with the basics of:
Regular exercise, sound nutrition, stress management.
A relationship crisis reconnects us with the basics of:
Honesty, trust, thoughtful listening.
An economic crisis reconnects us with the basics of:
Living within our means, reducing debt, saving for a rainy day.
COVID is reconnecting us to the basics of being human:
Our need for meaning, purpose, and connection.
Perhaps that’s what’s been missing in most of our workplace experiences.
When all the distractions are stripped away, what we need most is to do work that matters beside people we value.
