E-couragement: Immeasurable

“Do for the love of doing, for the love of others. That’s unmeasurable and profoundly life changing.” Leo Babauta I’ve never done this before. Sure, I’ve had guest bloggers. Both Jerome Daley and Chris Laney wrote for me in January 2012 after Ivy’s death. I’ve never used the E-couragement specifically to highlight someone else’s blog. Time to get out of my comfort zone. Here’s what I know about our readers. You are committed to living and working while fully engaged. You’re open to unconventional ideas and concepts. You are courageous, willing to embrace new ways of thinking and believing. We have a lot in common. I subscribe to blogs and seek out resources for those same reasons. Knowing that about us, it makes sense to share this particular post by Leo Babauta with you.

It’s important to give ourselves permission to question what we’ve been told. Not from a spirit of fault finding—instead from a place of personal responsibility. It’s vital to pause and consider, what do I think and why do I think this?  In business, and in life, we’ve been told “what gets measured gets done” or “you can’t manage what you don’t measure.” Interesting concept with some truth to it. Is it absolute truth? You decide for yourself. Hint: adjusting our thinking isn’t about right vs. wrong—it’s merely about knowing where we stand and why.
